FAQ
Traditional document editors like Google Docs are not end-to-end encrypted, hold your encryption keys for you, and lock you into their ecosystem with no way to independently recover your content.
dDocs is built on the Fileverse middleware, an open-source infrastructure layer designed for privacy and sovereignty by default. On ddocs.new everything is end-to-end encrypted before it leaves your device. You hold the keys, not the platform, and can recover your data independently of Fileverse at any time. Your content stays private, untracked, and free from surveillance, AI training, or content policies that could lock you out of your own work.
All content is end-to-end encrypted by default. Fileverse does not hold your encryption keys and cannot read your documents. Access permissions use zero-knowledge authentication (vOPRF-ID), so even Fileverse cannot see who you invite to collaborate.dDocs operates without ads, without fingerprinting, and without collecting personal data.
All documents tied to your account can be independently recovered using your Backup Key. You can access and decrypt your documents via the static Walkaway Page (which includes an .onion route), without relying on any Fileverse infrastructure. Your data would survive even if dDocs does not!
ddocs.new is for anyone who wants to write and collaborate without giving up privacy or sovereignty online. Teams use it for real-time and async collaboration with end-to-end encryption. Authors and fan fiction writers use it as a private drafting space with no content moderation, no surveillance, and no risk of account deletion. Academics and researchers use it for technical writing with Markdown and LaTeX support. Lawyers and professionals use it for sensitive documents with full version history.
